this picture is made by a critical ill patient. he was intubated but concious and was able to draw this with his right foot. no, the date is not the date of birth of the patient.

when everything lined up and there were enough resources at the picu, there was the option to reduce sedation so that patients were able to wake up. it was necessary to have relatives who were in a emotional stable state and able to „guide“ and monitor their child.

it would be nice to establish a contest regarding (pediatric) intensive care unit art. a incentive for healthcare staff to reduce sedation when ever possible.
